An introduction to the maternal mental health pages

The mental health of pregnant women and during the postnatal period is extremely important as it is a time of huge change and it is completely normal for women to feel a wide range of emotions- sometimes feeling very positive and excited, and sometimes feeling overwhelmed. Some women have pre-existing mental health challenges and others develop anxieties in relation to pregnancy and birth, however it is important that there is access to resources and that you have someone to talk to, who will listen and provide support.
