Serennu Children’s Centre

Welcome to Serennu, our unique, exciting integrated children’s centre.

The Serennu Children’s Centre opened in April 2011. The centre is a purpose-built centre that provides care, treatment and activities for children and young people with disabilities and developmental difficulties from Newport, south Monmouthshire and south Torfaen.

We aim to provide a high quality, professional and friendly service here at Serennu in all that we do to ease the burden on individual families and provide continuity of care for children under one room.

The guiding principle for Serennu is to ensure disabled children and their families from all communities are fully supported to participate in valued childhood experiences and have access to the same range of opportunities, life experiences, mainstream and community services and facilities as other children and their families.

‘Serennu’ isn't just about the treatment that the children and young people receive; the centre provides family centred services to accommodate the needs of parents too.

The centre facilities include:

  • Multiple consulting rooms for paediatricians to run clinics
  • Purpose built hydrotherapy facilities
  • Physio gym facilities for individual and group treatment
  • Large treatment rooms
  • Specialist technology room
  • Specialist audiology and Speech and language facilities

About the Centre

Serennu Children's Centre is located off a housing estate in Cwrt Camlas. As you drive towards the building you will notice a car park on your right hand side that facilitates a large number of parking spaces including disabled parking bays and children and parent parking bays. This car park will lead you to our main reception desk on the upper ground floor.

Alternatively, as you approach the building you can access our second car park located at the back of the building that will lead you to our lower ground floor where you can find a waiting area with a selection of toys, a cafe area with food and drinks available to purchase, our hydrotherapy pool and Medi Cinema.

As you go up to the upper ground floor we have the main reception desk. To the right of the reception desk, you will find the clinic waiting area with a selection of toys and a TV showing a variety of children's films. We have 5 clinic rooms attached to the waiting area.

To the left of the reception is the Family Liaison Officer desk, information leaflets for families and a second waiting area with a selection of toys. As you go down the corridor you will find a variety or therapy rooms and meetings rooms.

Outside we have a fully accessible park area, sensory garden, wheelchair swing, gazebo, multi-use games area and outdoor playhouse. Our specially designed disabled playground is open 24/7 for use inside and outside of centre hours.
